The Power of Traveling Solo

As we prepared to record this podcast with Jacqueline, we found ourselves thinking the broad array of topics her rich experiences and interests encompass. The possibilities seemed endless, yet we were confident we'd find something worth discussing.

On a rainy Wednesday evening, after a 30-minute bike ride through the drizzling Dutch rain to reach Jacqueline's place and despite not knowing precisely what awaited me there, I was sure she had something significant to share.

And there I was, pleasantly surprised, engaged in a discussion about the impact of solo travel, particularly prevalent among women in the Netherlands. We explored the cultural taboos surrounding solo travel, especially for women, and the empowering nature of stepping beyond one's comfort zone.

Jacqueline shared her observations, revealing that during her own journeys, she encountered predominantly women from specific cultural backgrounds such as the Netherlands, Germany, or the US, with fewer representations from cultures like Greece. This led us to question whether a country's level of masculinity influences the emancipation of women and their ability to embark on solo adventures.

Most of our insightful conversation was captured and recorded for our podcast, available for you to listen to.
